Teaching Tuned to Nature is a pilot project that helps teachers explore, create and implement innovative ways to connect students with nature across the entire curriculum.
Thirty teachers will embark on a yearlong journey of rejuvenation and conversation at Bernheim to discuss how nature informs and inspires the art of teaching.
We will examine teaching ideas, strategies and a nature-based approach across existing curriculum centered on the belief that nature provides a healthy framework for education.
When students understand their personal connections to nature they become more confident and accomplished learners.
What is it?
Participants will attend a series of six gatherings focused on the Harmony Principles and how that philosophy can be incorporated into educational instruction. Reference books that act as a basis for retreat discussion will be provided.
Who should participate?
The exploratory nature of the project requires participants who are willing to be actively engaged in the process. In addition to receiving information from the pilot project, participants will be asked to bring their own ideas and experience to the table. Our community of practice will be cooperative, exploratory, engaging and transformative.
